Two-factor authentication (2FA)

To better secure an account, you can use two-factor authentication (2FA). With 2FA, a user's identity is verified in two ways when logging into an account. On this page you can read exactly what 2FA is, and how to set up your two-factor authentication at Amdax.

Frequently asked questions

What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

With 2FA, a user's identity is verified in two ways when logging into an account. It's an extra layer of security, giving you better protection against hackers. In addition to entering a username and password, you also enter a second factor when logging in. This can be through a fingerprint, facial recognition or code from an app on your cell phone. To create your mobile two-factor authentication (2FA), you must first download an app. We recommend you use Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

How do I create two-factor authentication(2FA) with the Microsoft Authenticator app?

Tip: Because 2FA is almost always active on a cell phone, enabling, disabling or resetting it works most conveniently on a laptop/pc. Log in via the web environment and follow the steps below.

Step 1: Download and open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your cell phone.

You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Step 2: Open the app and click on the plus sign in the top right corner

Once you have opened the app, click on the plus sign at the top right of the screen and then choose "Other"

Step 3: Choose "Other"

Step 4: Scan the QR code that will become visible in the My Amdax environment.

Go to the My Amdax environment and scan the QR code that becomes visible there using the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Step 5: Copy the six-digit code in the authenticator app. Enter this code in your My Amdax environment.

Note that this code refreshes every 30 seconds.

The two-factor authentication has now been created. Always keep your recovery code in a safe place. You will need this code if you want to set up your two-factor authentication on another device.

How do I reset my two-factor authentication (2FA)?

What do you need?

To reset your 2FA, you need valid proof of identity. This can be your passport, ID or driver's license.

Step 1: Create a video

Open the camera on your computer or phone with the selfie function. Make sure your face and identification document are well in focus. Start the video and speak the following sentence, replacing the words in red with the appropriate information:

''Today DD-MM-YYYYY, I (name) request a 2FA reset for my Amdax account registered at email address: [email protected]. I am aware of the risks and confirm that these are my own actions."

Step 2: Verify the video

Verify that the video meets the following conditions:

  • Your face is clearly visible

  • The identification document is clearly legible

  • The spelled out sentence from the previous step is clearly understood. Including the current date, name and the correct email address.

Step 3: Send the video

Send the video to [email protected] with the following subject line: "Account 2FA reset request."

Important: Send the email from the same email address your account is associated with.

Step 4: Set up a new Two Factor Authentication (2FA) for your account

You will receive a message when the operations team has approved your request. Log in to your Amdax account and set up a new two-factor authentication(2FA). Because an account without 2FA is unprotected, we recommend doing this as soon as possible. Always keep your recovery code in a safe place.
